What Do You Put On Waffles?

With something as versatile as waffles, you may be wondering what belongs on top of this delicious treat. Some swear by maple syrup; others like butter. But that is precisely the beauty of waffles; you can put whatever you want on them! Our Belgian Liege waffles are sweet enough to eat as is but can be elevated by your favorite toppings. So, feel free to go as crazy or as plain as you want, your waffle is your canvas to paint. We tried some popular waffle topping ideas to get you started.

1. Maple syrup

A fan favorite for those who love simplicity but also want that extra sweetness that comes with maple syrup. This can be paired with some fresh butter for a sweet yet savory treat that would make anyone’s day a little brighter.

2. Hazelnut spread or chocolate sauce

This one’s for my chocolate lovers out there. What could possibly make a waffle better? Chocolate! We think this would work especially well with our Send Me Cocoa waffles. Nothing can beat a waffle that tastes like hot cocoa, except for one that also has a smooth hazelnut spread to compliment those chocolatey flavors. After all, you can never have too much chocolate.

3. Ice cream

Ice cream on waffles takes breakfast for dessert to a whole different level. No matter what flavor of ice cream you love, it is sure to take your waffle up a notch. Cold ice cream on a warmed-up waffle is the perfect match. This trick works with all our waffle flavors, although putting vanilla ice cream on top of the Send Me Joe coffee waffle might just be a game-changer for you java fans. For even more fun, add some whipped cream and sprinkles on top and voila! - you have a waffle ice cream sundae.

4. Fruit

Who says waffles aren’t healthy? Putting your favorite fruits on top of your waffle is a perfect way to add some important nutrition, while still getting that well-deserved waffle sweetness! The possibilities for this topping are endless; strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and other fruits would all be a fantastic addition to any waffle. Add some whipped cream to add a level of creaminess and bring everything together.

5. Icing or frosting

Adding icing to my waffles has been a recent discovery that has been life changing. Any icing or frosting works, whether you make your own or pick some up from the store. The icing perfectly complements the sugar pearls that sweeten our waffles. Pro tip- cut up your waffle into small bite-sized pieces for a more dippable experience.

From something as simple as syrup to some more unique ideas, such as fried chicken, your waffle can be as unique as you are. There is no right or wrong when it comes to waffles. Which begs the question, how do you waffle?
